Despite little assistance from it’s lead-in, Grey’s Anatomy saw its best numbers since the season premiere. Unfortunately, the series couldn’t keep CBS from taking its fourth Thursday in a row.

As hard as it is for me to admit, it looks like my darling Pushing Daisies will soon be pushed out the door. Despite an Obama bump for its last outing, the show couldn’t maintain the audience. Yesterday’s episode even performed lower than the last unassisted show. CBS had a good evening though. Season high numbers for the two comedies gave the network wins in both categories last night.

Although numbers were down for all CBS shows, the Eye network still did enough to win with the viewers last night. Meanwhile, FOX - with help from Fringe and House - was #1 again in the demos.

What a difference a few months makes. Last May, CBS was still deciding whether to renew How I Met Your Mother. This November, the comedy has shown considerable growth. Last night, HIMYM‘s new season high helped its network take the win with the demos. ABC, in the meantime, was again on top with the viewers.

Nearly two weeks after the election, President-elect Barack Obama is still drawing record numbers. Last night’s interview on 60 Minutes attracted approximately 24.5 million, the show’s best numbers in 9 years. This performance helped CBS win the night with the viewers, though it wasn’t enough to take the demos from NBC.

Despite lower numbers for the 9:00 hour (no NCIS repeat this this time), CBS was still on top last Friday. A large part of the network’s success was due to Ghost Whisperer. The series hit a season high with the viewers last week.

MONDAY (11/17)
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  “Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) implements changes to the Waldorf Thanksgiving traditions, which upsets Blair.“ The introduction of iocane powder is always a controversial decision.
  • Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm):  “Jon and Kate renew their vows in an intimate Hawaiian ceremony.“ Wait a second - that wedding hasn’t happened yet? They’ve been milking that cow for weeks!
  • Prison Break (FOX, 9pm):  “T-Bag’s boss at GATE makes him a tempting offer.“ Please don’t let it be a season renewal.
  • My Own Worst Enemy (NBC, 10pm):  “Edward makes a risky deal with a KGB agent to find information on his past.“ Edward better hurry up. He only has a few chances left to get it all figured out.

Viewers in the mood to reminisce returned to ER last night. The appearance of Anthony Edwards gave a nice boost to the closing series - and network - yesterday. Unfortunately, the ratings bump wasn’t enough to overtake CBS in either the viewers or demos this Thursday.
