Despite little assistance from it’s lead-in, Grey’s Anatomy saw its best numbers since the season premiere. Unfortunately, the series couldn’t keep CBS from taking its fourth Thursday in a row.
8pm
- Survivor: Gabon (12.6 million, 4.0/11 in 18-49) dimmed by 400,000.
- Ugly Betty (8.3 million, 2.5/7) plunged by 900,000.
- My Name is Earl (6.8 million, 2.6/7) lost 200,000; Kath & Kim (5.5 million, 2.3/6) picked up 400,000.
- Kitchen Nightmares (2.0/5) served up 4.7 million.
- Smallville (4.8 million, 1.9/5) added on 400,000.

ABC Cancels Dirty Sexy Money, Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cancellations

What I feared would probably happen has now just come true. ABC has given the ax to Pushing Daisies. And Dirty Sexy Money. And Eli Stone.
Although an earlier draft of the midseason schedule hinted at this possibility, it was unclear at that time whether the shows were simply going on hiatus. Now we know the sophomore programs will wrap up production after 13 episodes. (If and when those hours will even air is another matter.) While no one is officially using the word “canceled,“ it’s unlikely these titles will see any significant ratings boosts in the weeks to come.

Wednesday Ratings: Pushing Daisies Clinging to Life
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, House, Ratings
As hard as it is for me to admit, it looks like my darling Pushing Daisies will soon be pushed out the door. Despite an Obama bump for its last outing, the show couldn’t maintain the audience. Yesterday’s episode even performed lower than the last unassisted show. CBS had a good evening though. Season high numbers for the two comedies gave the network wins in both categories last night.
8pm
- Bones (10.7 million, 3.1/9 in 18-49) easily won its hour.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (2.5/7) and Gary Unmarried (2.7/7) both attracted 8.1 million.
- Knight Rider (5.1 million, 1.5/4) lost 200,000.
- Pushing Daisies (4.9 million, 1.7/5) was off 1.9 million from the last episode.
- The finale of America’s Next Top Model (4.8 million, 2.3/6) had it’s best audience in about a year.

Julianne Hough Says No to Next Season of DWTS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, News, Video
When Cody Linley was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars this past Tuesday, most people didn’t realize they were saying goodbye to Julianne Hough as well.
In an radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, the two-time DWTS winner said she would like to take some time off to concentrate on her other job. “I really, really want to focus on the music and, ya know, be taken seriously a little bit. And I think it’s hard to be on [Dancing] and be singing,“ Julianne explained. (In the above clip, you can see the 20-year-old performing “My Hallelujah Song” on the recent results show.)
So does this mean the country singer will be gone from just Season 8 (the next installment should start up again in just a few months), or could her absence be even longer than that? That’s unclear. The only thing we can say for certain is that Derek is somewhere jumping for joy right now.

Dancing with the Stars 7: Week 9 Loser
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, News

Last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars was dramatic on many fronts. With the finals hanging in the balance, the competition was already intense. Then Brooke performed…and the whole game changed.
After weeks and weeks of being near or at the top, Burke did something unthinkable right off the bat: she scored a 21 for the Jive. That was the lowest score she had ever received during the whole season. Although she nicely rebounded with her second number (she got a 28 for her Salsa), the door was already left open for Brooke’s fellow challengers.
Fortunately for Lance Bass, there couldn’t have been a better night for him to peak. Yesterday, Lance and Lacey got their first 10 ever…three of them. They were also the only couple to break the 50 point mark. (Their total was 57.) Will the inconsistent competitor be able to keep up this momentum in the finals? (Assuming the voters even put him there?)

What a difference a few months makes. Last May, CBS was still deciding whether to renew How I Met Your Mother. This November, the comedy has shown considerable growth. Last night, HIMYM‘s new season high helped its network take the win with the demos. ABC, in the meantime, was again on top with the viewers.
8pm
- Approximately 19.7 million watched the final four compete on Dancing with the Stars (4.2/10 in 18-49).
- The Big Bang Theory (9.7 million, 3.7/10) was off by 300,000; How I Met Your Mother (9.8 million, 4.3/10) hit a new season high.
- Chuck (6.8 million, 2.6/7) added on 600,000 more.
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (5.3 million, 2.0/4) was up slightly.
- Gossip Girl (2.9 million, 1.4/4) reached a series low.

Dancing with the Stars 7: Week 9
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars
Tonight on Dancing with the Stars, the four contestants were each given a private Master Class session with Len Goodman. With next week’s finals on the line, the celebrities were happy to accept any advice that they could get.
For this week’s semifinal round, the dancers first had to perform a style they hadn’t individually tried yet. The second half of the show was then devoted to new styles introduced this season (the Salsa and the Jitterbug).
Who proved they were worthy of a Top Three finish…and who needed more of the head judge’s help? Read on!

Nearly two weeks after the election, President-elect Barack Obama is still drawing record numbers. Last night’s interview on 60 Minutes attracted approximately 24.5 million, the show’s best numbers in 9 years. This performance helped CBS win the night with the viewers, though it wasn’t enough to take the demos from NBC.
8pm
- Sunday Night Football (6.5/14 in 18-49) averaged about 17 million.
- The Amazing Race (12.3 million, 3.4/8) was off by 1.8 million.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.2 million, 3.4/8) lost 700,000.
- The Simpsons (8.5 million, 3.9/9) picked up 300,000; King of the Hill (7 million, 3.2/7) added on 200,000 more.
- Valentine (600,000, 0.2/0) was on par with last week.
