South Park’s Last Hurrah: A Big Screen Sequel
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, Cable, Gossip

When Trey Parker and Matt Stone decide to pull the plug on South Park, they won’t quietly fade from the scene with a single half-hour TV stint. These two comedy masters will say good-bye in a way the fans can appreciate (and spend a lot more money on): with another big-screen version of the show.
Don’t worry, avid Park fans, the show isn’t scheduling to end itself anytime soon. Parker and Stone are signed on with Comedy Central until 2011, at which time they may or may not decide to renew their contract.
“We talked about maybe some day doing a movie to sort of end it all, and that seems like the best idea,” said Parker to the press recently. “That’s been a big thought, to do the last show as a movie.”

Nearly two weeks after the election, President-elect Barack Obama is still drawing record numbers. Last night’s interview on 60 Minutes attracted approximately 24.5 million, the show’s best numbers in 9 years. This performance helped CBS win the night with the viewers, though it wasn’t enough to take the demos from NBC.
8pm
- Sunday Night Football (6.5/14 in 18-49) averaged about 17 million.
- The Amazing Race (12.3 million, 3.4/8) was off by 1.8 million.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.2 million, 3.4/8) lost 700,000.
- The Simpsons (8.5 million, 3.9/9) picked up 300,000; King of the Hill (7 million, 3.2/7) added on 200,000 more.

South Park Mocks Obama, McCain and the Voters
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, Video
Apparently the news outlets weren’t the only ones hard at work on Election Day.
In less than 24 hours, co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone managed to craft a fresh new episode of South Park. While its possible some segments were prepared ahead of time, other details in the program - the acceptance/concession speeches, the candidates’ clothing, the street parties - were obviously produced after the fact.
You can watch three more clips from last night’s show after the jump.

FOX Changing Sunday Lineup
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, FOX, Cancellations, Gossip

King of the Hill is reaching the end of its road on FOX, though the show has long been one of the anchors of its Sunday night, animated-series heavy lineup. Currently in its 13th season, final episodes of the series are expected to air next year.
Created by Beavis and Butthead mastermind Mike Judge, King details the life of Hank Hill, wife Peggy and son Bobby - and a cast of characters that represent the best and worst of Texas living. The Emmy-award winning show is likely being dropped for the new Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show, expected to air during the 2009 season.
American Dad, which runs after Family Guy at the bottom of the 9 pm hour, will be renewed for a fifth year on the network.

Even though the show celebrated Halloween two days late, The Simpsons‘ annual “Treehouse of Horror” special was still timely with the viewers. Last night’s animated event gave the series its best performance in the demos in nearly five years. That result, in turn, gave the network a Sunday win in the demos. Meanwhile, the Patriots/Colts football game put NBC on top with the viewers.
8pm
- Approximately 14.2 million saw the Indianapolis Colts beat the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football (5.3/12 in 18-49).
- The Simpsons (6.2/15) delivered 12.5 million.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (11.7 million, 3.8/9) was off by 500,000.
- The Amazing Race (9.8 million, 2.8/7) did about the same.
- King of the Hill (4.3/10) registered 8.6 million.
- Valentine (800,000, 0.2/1) fell by 46,000.

Maybe CBS has a repeat of Fringe to thank? Whatever the reason, The Mentalist hit a season high last night with its sixth episode. The freshman series then helped out Without a Trace’s numbers. All this activity gave the the network its best Tuesday since December ‘07. Unfortunately, House‘s hot demos meant FOX still had the lead last night in the 18-49 group.
8pm
- NCIS (17.1 million, 3.4/9 in 18-49) did the same as last week.
- House (13.1 million, 5.3/14) killed in the demos.
- ABC‘s presentation of It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (3.4/9) had 10.4 million reminiscing.
- The Biggest Loser: Families (8 million, 3.1/9) packed on 700,000 more pounds.
