Balthazar GettyAs we’ve learned from the behind the scenes drama at , ABC doesn’t have a problem saying goodbye to difficult actors. Unfortunately, that’s a lesson Balthazar Getty may be learning the hard way.

According to multiple sources, Getty could soon be getting more time to divide amongst his four kids and his new squeeze. While there’s a chance the actor may be let go from Brothers & Sisters altogether, it’s believed he will at the very least be downgraded from full-time status next season.

These rumors come not-so-coincidentally after reports of increased tension on the program’s set. Balthazar’s affair with Matthew Rhys’ ex has cause him to lose fans since this past summer. His recent work performance and attitude supposedly haven’t helped either. Although I’m sure the 33-year-old’s relationship with Sienna Miller played some part in the personnel decision, Entertainment Weekly claims “budgetary and storyline considerations” were also factors.

So what does this mean for fans of the show? There’ll be one less person yelling around that Walker dinner table. (And that’s a good thing.)

I usually shy away from reality projects featuring Scott Baio (not falling for that one again), but I just may have to make an exception for VH1. The network will soon be premiering its brand-new Confessions of a Teen Idol, which features seven former hotties who all share the same mission: grab the brass ring.

You know, again.

They each had their shot at fame and some even spent a little time at the top. But Hollywood is capricious, and soon enough all of these men found themselves on the swift path to being has-beens. But VH1 - and apparently, - thinks they could be shining stars once more. Or at the very least, reality stars. Here’s the funniest part: Baio is part host, part mentor to these would-be famous-again celebs.

I know, it’s a total riot.

FOX logoIt worked for . Disney makes money. FOX likes to make money, too. So why not sort of borrow an idea inspired by Disney, tweak it for TV, and make a truckload of money?

I’m just guessing here, but I feel like the pitch for FOX’s Glee went something like this. The network has ordered thirteen episodes of a new scripted musical series, truly the first of its kind. The maker of is behind the High School-based series, which will follow the characters inside a glee club that’s striving toward nationals.

Sources say the series will premiere in 2009, with speculation on the exact date running rampant. Some say it won’t appear until the summer season hits, while others are saying FOX will surely air it earlier to make use of an tie-in.

At any rate, it’s a musical series (there will be numbers every episode) starring a bunch of young, good-looking people. It’s not , it’s Glee.

And it’s probably going to be huge.

Simon CowellStill hard at work promoting the new season of , judge Simon Cowell hosted a conference call to let loose a series of comments on the upcoming changes for the popular reality program.

“I have no idea whether this is going to work or not,” Cowell admitted, when asked about the addition of to the judges’ table. “The thing I do support is at least trying new things. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.”

Highly critical judge is even looking forward to bringing back the wild card round - an idea I hotly oppose. “I think it’s a good idea,” the judge waxed optimistic. “I wasn’t crazy about the process we went through the last couple years, where we were given a group of contestants that you were bored with by show five.”

And though no episodes of Idol have aired, Cowell does have the inside track. While we have yet to see any auditions, the judges have already been through Hollywood Week. He called the finalists “an interesting bunch.”

The judge also agreed with the decision to pass on Idol Gives Back this season. “I don’t think it feels right to tell people who are having trouble with their mortgage that they need to be giving money.”

Sharon Osbourne Police are officially investigating an incident which occurred on the set of VH1’s Rock of Love Charm School. According to reports, host has been accused of attacking one of the contestants on the show.

That’s not very charming.

A police spokesman had this to say: “We know a battery incident is alleged to have occurred on a taping of a reality show Sharon Osbourne hosts.” Do tell!

So far, there’s no confirmation whether or not a police report has been filed, and reps for Osbourne aren’t commenting on the incident.

The kafuffle is said to have occurred between Osbourne and contestant Megan Hauserman, 26. Evidently, the contestant called Osbourne’s husband, rocker Ozzy Osbourne, a “brain-dead rock star” while on camera. Hauserman was booted from the show early on, but returned for a reunion special.

Strangely enough, Hauserman was expelled from the house for kicking a fellow contestant. Upon booting her, Osbourne said “the one thing I cannot stand is violence.”

Paula Abdul’s place with remains dubious as the former pop princess continues to contribute somewhat negative comments about the show and its producers.

Rumors about Abdul have been rampant since before Season 7 expired earlier this year. After displaying serious confusion during a routine judging (she started to critique a second song performed by Jason Castro before the event actually occurred), the gossip circles started to spin. A survey was released by FOX which asked a series of questions about the hosts, a casting addition was surprisingly announced and a lot of turmoil entered Abdul’s personal life.

On top of this, Abdul is working on another reality project (Paula Abdul’s Rah Cheerleading Bowl - seriously that’s the name of the show) with MTV and a jewelry line she’s going to hock on QVC. When you compare these gigs to number one network show American Idol, it all sounds a little second-tier. When you compare it to ’s career prospects in the late 90s, it’s a huge success.
